Principal Engineer

Salary: £90,000 – 100,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer with extensive .NET / C# experience in large-scale, complex systems.
• We require strong hands‑on expertise with AWS cloud platforms.
• We need proven experience designing scalable, distributed, and microservices architectures.
• We value deep understanding of APIs, system design, and integration patterns.
• We require strong experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
• We are looking for someone who can influence technical direction through expertise rather than authority.
• We consider experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerisation desirable.
• We consider knowledge of event‑driven systems and architectures desirable.
• We consider exposure to front‑end technologies such as React or Angular desirable.
• We consider experience within fintech or regulated environments desirable.

Responsibilities

• We will expect you to design and build scalable, distributed systems using .NET (C#).
• We will rely on you to define and evolve system architecture across AWS cloud environments.
• You will lead complex technical challenges and system design decisions.
• You will ensure our platforms are built for performance, scalability, security, and resilience.
• You will act as a go‑to technical expert within our engineering function.
• You will champion best practices, clean code, and modern engineering standards.
• You will contribute to architectural discussions and guide technical direction without line management responsibility.
• You will support and influence our wider engineering team through knowledge sharing and technical mentorship.
• You will contribute directly to coding, design, and delivery of key systems.
• You will work across the full lifecycle from design through deployment and optimisation.
• You will drive improvements across CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud‑native practices.
• You will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to deliver high‑impact solutions.
