The Opportunity

This is a full‑time role for a Business Development Manager / Contracts Manager focused on grounds maintenance and facilities management services. The role involves identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing a pipeline of prospects, preparing proposals and quotations, and closing contracts with commercial and public sector clients.

The postholder will manage and grow existing client accounts, ensuring contracts are delivered to specification, service levels are met, and customer satisfaction remains high. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include responding to inbound enquiries, conducting virtual and on‑site meetings (where required), coordinating with operations teams to price and scope works, and contributing to tender responses and framework applications.

The role also includes monitoring contract performance, reviewing KPIs, addressing issues proactively, and providing feedback to improve service delivery and profitability.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in business development, account management, or contracts management, ideally within grounds maintenance, landscaping, or facilities management.
  • Strong skills in prospecting, lead generation, and pipeline management, with the ability to negotiate and close commercial agreements.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manage service contracts, SLAs, and commercial terms, with attention to detail and risk awareness.
  • Confident client‑facing communication skills, including presenting proposals, conducting review meetings, and building long‑term relationships.
  • Good commercial acumen, including pricing, margin awareness, and basic financial analysis for contract performance.
  • Solid organisational and time‑management abilities, capable of prioritising multiple contracts and deadlines in a remote‑working environment.
  • Familiarity with facilities management or grounds maintenance services (e.g., landscape maintenance, exterior cleaning, winter services) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., CRM tools, MS Office or equivalent) and comfort working with digital collaboration platforms.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites and company locations when required.
  • Team player with a great sense of humour.
