Salary: £61,000 – 101,000 per year
Requirements
- Strong Cisco Catalyst switching experience, including hands‑on support of Catalyst 3850, 9300 and/or 9500 platforms.
- Experience working in a Network Operations Centre (NOC), TAC or similar 24×7 operational support environment.
- Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking capability.
- Experience troubleshooting across OSPF, BGP, VLAN, STP and QoS.
- Experience with network monitoring and incident management.
- Excellent fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage shift handovers effectively.
- Ability to work within shift rotations, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
- Prefer candidates with CCNA or CCNP Enterprise certification.
- Prefer experience in telecoms, service provider or enterprise‑scale network environments.
- Prefer exposure to high‑availability or mission‑critical infrastructure.
- Prefer experience in network performance optimisation.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24×7 operational network support within a high‑availability environment.
- Configure, manage and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst network infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance and respond proactively to incidents.
- Support fault isolation, escalation and service restoration activities.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point during shift coverage.
- Diagnose Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking faults across LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Support routing and switching environments including OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP and QoS.
- Escalate complex incidents efficiently while maintaining clear stakeholder communication.
- Complete accurate shift handovers and operational reporting.
- Maintain network diagrams, configuration backups and operational documentation.
- Support continuous improvement and operational optimisation initiatives.
