Role Overview
The Education and Training Standards (ETS) Wales Committee conducts the professional endorsement of initial training courses leading to qualified youth and community worker status on behalf of the Joint Negotiating Committee for Youth and Community Workers (JNC). ETS also provides advice, information and strategic support to Welsh Government on matters relating to workforce development for the Youth Work sector in Wales, which currently includes oversight of the Workforce Development Group for Youth Work in Wales.
Qualifications
The postholder should possess a recognised professional qualification and knowledge of the formal and non-formal education sectors, including Higher Education.
Responsibilities
- Work a minimum of 4 days per month on ETS business and a further 1 day per month on workforce development.
- Chair the ETS Committee, which will meet at least 3 times a year.
- Attend meetings of the Workforce Development Group and other related groups as appropriate.
- Travel throughout Wales and, occasionally, both inside and outside the UK.
Commitment and Remuneration
The appointment will be made for a period of 3 years (subject to annual Welsh Government funding) from 1 September 2026 with a remuneration of £250 per day and an expected time commitment of 5 days per month.
