Senior Electrical Engineer

Company: Domin Fluid Power Limited
Apply for the Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Bristol
Job Description:

We are looking for a highly capable Senior Electrical Engineer to take ownership of the electrical architecture behind Domin’s test rigs and engineering infrastructure.

You will play a central role in enabling the development, validation and manufacture of next-generation hydraulic technology. Your work will directly support the equipment that allows our engineering teams to test confidently and scale effectively.

This is a hands‑on engineering role in a fast‑moving product development environment where speed, flexibility and technical judgement matter. You will work on a wide variety of systems ranging from R&D test rigs to long‑term manufacturing infrastructure.

You will be responsible for defining and delivering high‑quality electrical systems from concept through implementation, helping establish the engineering standards, documentation quality and architectural consistency that will underpin future growth.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, enjoys solving complex multidisciplinary problems, and takes pride in building professional, scalable engineering systems without overcomplicating them. You should be equally comfortable reviewing schematics, diagnosing electrical issues on a rig, improving the standard of engineering, or helping shape the next generation of Domin’s internal development capability.

If you enjoy true engineering ownership, broad technical scope, and building systems that accelerate world‑class engineering teams, this role will give you substantial impact and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the electrical architecture, standards and engineering quality across Domin’s test rigs and development infrastructure.
  • Define, design, review and approve electrical systems for rigs and development equipment, including schematics, panel layouts, interfaces, and guide the installation, commissioning and debugging process.
  • Deliver electrical systems that are safe, maintainable, scalable and suitable for CE marking, while maintaining appropriate development speed and flexibility.
  • Work closely with mechanical, controls, software, manufacturing and product engineering teams to develop high‑quality systems.
  • Support upgrading, debugging and fault‑finding activities across new and existing rigs and development systems.
  • Identify technical debt, reliability risks and safety gaps within existing infrastructure, establishing practical improvement roadmaps.
  • Lead electrical safety and risk management activities across rigs and machinery, including hazard identification, risk assessment and safe‑system development for low‑voltage industrial equipment.
  • Provide informal mentoring, technical guidance and peer review support to other engineers.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 6 years’ experience designing electrical systems or equipment within an engineering or industrial environment.
  • Strong experience producing high‑quality electrical schematics, documentation and manufacturing information for low‑voltage industrial systems and equipment (230/400 V AC).
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical safety principles and machinery‑related electrical standards.
  • Experience designing electrical systems that balance engineering robustness with practical usability and development speed.
  • Strong technical judgement and ability to make pragmatic engineering decisions under uncertainty.
  • Ability to independently own technical problems and deliver solutions from concept through implementation within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • High levels of accountability, ownership and attention to detail.
  • Strong alignment with Domin’s virtues: Positive, Grit, Action‑Orientated, Trust, Gratitude and Humility.

Beneficial Requirements:

  • Experience working on development rigs, test systems, industrial machinery or advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems including PLCs, distributed I/O, instrumentation and embedded industrial computing.
  • Experience designing systems intended for CE marking, UL/NRTL approval or similar compliance frameworks.
  • Experience integrating sensors, instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Working knowledge of industrial motor systems, drives and VFDs.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, aerospace, automotive or high‑performance engineering environments.
