We are looking to appoint to whole time (10PA’s) Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Emergency and Gastrointestinal Imaging within the Medical Imaging and Medical Physics Directorate of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Diagnostic Imaging Service is recruiting one post in order to support acute US, CT and MRI and elective gastrointestinal imaging. The successful candidate will join the existing team of 10 gastrointestinal radiologists as part of the 57 NHS radiologists within the Directorate. On-call commitments can be tailored to the candidate’s expertise and training. The current cross-site on-call rota is 1 in 14, with two consultant radiologists covering the on call together, supervising a team of resident radiology registrars. Two sessions of reporting are expected during on-call weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for acute CT service for inpatient and Emergency Department patients, and general radiology activity across the Trust.
  • Primarily specialise in emergency radiology at the Northern General Hospital, with an interest in gastrointestinal imaging and intervention.
  • Provide acute CT, MRI and ultrasound cover for hepatobiliary and lower gastrointestinal imaging, general inpatient, major trauma and emergency department patients, as well as elective gastrointestinal outpatient work.
  • Contribute to the general radiology workload at the Northern General Hospital.
  • Be part of a cross-site 1 in 14 on-call rota covering both the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospitals.
  • Work flexibly and co-operatively with other members of the GI and wider diagnostic imaging team to provide a high quality, comprehensive emergency and gastrointestinal radiology service within this teaching hospital environment.
  • Work according to the term and conditions of the national consultant contract.

Qualifications

  • Major interest in Gastrointestinal Imaging.
  • Ability to provide support for the acute CT service.
  • Experience in emergency radiology (with acute CT, MRI, ultrasound cover for gastrointestinal imaging).
  • Willingness to work full-time (10PA’s) or be considered if unable for personal reasons, with modification of job content discussed personally.
