Role Overview
We are seeking a School Catering Operative to manage and deliver the school meal service across various locations in the borough. The role involves monitoring and controlling the catering service to maintain quality and consistency at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to different schools throughout the week (personal vehicle required, mileage paid).
- Cook and serve meals for large numbers of students.
- Ensure portion control, budgets and ordering are accurately maintained.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Provide a customer‑facing service in line with the fluency duty and required spoken English level.
Salary and Hours
Salary: £19,088.11 to £20,669.42 (pay award pending). Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Boroughwide.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds in Catering.
- Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
- Valid current driving licence.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Experience working in a school catering environment is desirable.
About You
You will bring strong practical cooking skills, determination, energy and organisational ability. Experience cooking for large groups and an understanding of portion control, budgeting and ordering will be particularly valuable.
