We are looking for a caring, fun, active and reliable candidate with a good sense of humour who can make a difference to a young adult’s life. The role is for a support worker working in a private placement supporting a 20‑year‑old autistic, non‑verbal male in his own private residential setting with great facilities including a swimming pool and extensive grounds. The schedule includes occasional lone‑working shifts but most shifts are 2‑1, teaming up with other team members to go out on outings and into the community. We already have an awesome team you would be joining who are very lovely and supportive and you will be part of the family unit.
Full training is provided with extensive shadowing sessions with established support workers before any solo shifts. Additional training such as Positive Behaviour Support, Registered Behaviour Technician training with Behaviour Analyst Certificate Board accreditation or NVQs in health and social care is available if desired.
Candidates will need to be fit and healthy and keen to participate and organise fun, appropriate activities and outings to fill out‑of‑school hours, help the client participate in community trips, attend specialist provisions and develop self‑help skills. Hours can be flexible, averaging 40 hours per week for a full‑time position, and are fully negotiable with the right candidate. A part‑time option is also available with flexible hours.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Help with all aspects of the client’s life, including driving for outings, self‑help skills, and personal care.
- Encourage independence and help the client have as much fun and life enrichment as possible.
Qualifications and Skills
Previous experience of working with kids or adults with autism is required.
Full driving licence required.
