Salford City Council is seeking a dedicated Support Officer to join our Regulatory Services team and help protect and promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of our residents and visitors.
About the Role
As a Support Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering operational solutions across Regulatory Services. You’ll work closely with Lead Practitioners, Service Managers, and a range of stakeholders to ensure Salford remains a safe, vibrant, and thriving place to live and work.
You will support the service, collaborating with internal and external enforcement bodies to resolve issues quickly and effectively. This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to work across different service areas and contribute to meaningful change in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of area-based and projects aligned with council strategies.
- Support the monitoring and completion of assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure successful work programme delivery.
- Apply knowledge to real-world situations to promote compliance and best practice.
- Manage your own workload effectively, including occasional out-of-hours work.
- Communicate clearly and accessibly with all stakeholders.
- Contribute to training and development initiatives within the team.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, digital, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Ability to analyse information, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
- Confidence in decision-making that is fair and proportionate.
Experience:
- Proficient in using computer and mobile technology applications.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders including customers, agencies, and community groups.
- Knowledge of referral pathways and support service

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £21.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £5.38 per month.
