Senior Social Worker / Practice Educator

Place: Ladywood Assessment Social Work Team, Birmingham City Council

Contract: Permanent

Grade: D – £45,091 – £53,460 (subject to formal evaluation under the Equal Pay Programme)

Hours: 36.5 hours per week

Golden Hello payment: £1,000 setup and £5,000 per annum (see terms)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead role in improving the quality of professional social work practice and managing complex casework.
• Provide technical expertise, coaching and mentoring to other social workers.
• Ensure adherence to legislation, standards and departmental policies.
• Participate in the identification and systematic review of service needs and plan/develop adult care services.
• Explore innovative and radical approaches to service delivery, both internal and through commissioned services.
• Ensure effective management, operation and development of Adult’s Social Care to meet statutory duties and improve positive outcomes for adults in Birmingham.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience as a registered social worker with adult services.
• Strong organisational and communication skills, with a positive and flexible approach.
• Enthusiastic, self‑motivated and a dependable team player.
• Practice Educator Training desirable; willingness to undertake training if not currently held.
• Disability Confident Leader training or equivalent preferred.
• Review of DBS check and proof of right to work in the UK will be required.
