Salary: Grade 6: £34,588 to £39,144 inclusive of London Weighting. Potential to progress to £41,292 per annum inclusive of London Weighting, subject to sustained exceptional contribution (pro‑rata if part‑time).

Responsibility and Qualifications
We are seeking a skilled and hands‑on Senior Technician to join the Technical Services team at the Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology (BCAST), supporting world‑class research in solidification science and metallurgical engineering. In this role, you will provide expert technical support to laboratories, researchers, and students, ensuring safe and effective delivery of research programmes while contributing to the development of innovative and sustainable technologies.
- Previous experience in mechanical engineering, machining, machine assembly, welding, and a solid understanding of electrical systems, PLCs, and control systems.
- Practical expertise in metal casting processes, including the safe handling of molten metals, is an advantage.
- Support industrial casting trials and prototype new technologies.
- Maintain and improve laboratory equipment and processes.
- Develop SOPs and provide technical guidance within a collaborative research environment equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities.
