Overview

Pastoral Support Graduate Teaching Assistant at an Outstanding graded Secondary School and Sixth Form in Newham, East London. Graduate entry-level position to support pupils in university applications, many of whom are first-generation candidates.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support to students.
• Assist pupils in gaining places at top universities.
• Help students navigate university application processes and placement opportunities.
• Support learners with significant barriers, sharing personal experience as a former first-generation university candidate.
• Participate in school trips to traditional university cities and support students in these experiences.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate (Oxbridge or top 10 university) with a relevant degree and matching A-level and GCSE grades.
• Experience in university placement and application achievements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, and a commitment to helping underprivileged students.
• Availability Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 2:45 pm.

Benefits

Annual salary of £515 to £545 per week. Permanent contract from September 2027. Target start September 2023 (ASAP).
