What you will do

  • Attend all calls as requested and directed by the call centre.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and deliver high standards of care to detained patients, assessing their fitness for detention, interview, release, or transfer.
  • Provide healthcare interventions for minor ailments or injuries and refer cases that require more serious attention.
  • Perform forensic examinations of individuals in police care, documenting injuries and collecting DNA evidence where necessary.
  • Examine police officers or staff injured on duty, offering appropriate management and documentation of injuries.
  • Collect specimens as required by legislation, ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Operate within the scope of PACE legislation Code C, maintaining professional standards.
  • Prepare written statements within 7–10 days upon request and give oral testimony in court or tribunals as necessary.
  • Maintain complete and accurate clinical records that are accessible even after your contract ends.
  • Conduct assessments for alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
  • Undertake Mental Health and Learning Disability assessments as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Lead to enhance medical services.
  • Fulfil duties as a Forensic Clinician in custody and maintain clinical skills and competencies.
