About the role

Specialty Training Programme Director for Core Surgery (T&O themed) within the South West School of Surgery. Works with and supports the Head of School for Surgery to lead delivery of functions aligned with NHS England mandate and long‑term workforce plan.

Key responsibilities

• Improve learner supervision, assessment and experience.
• Engage faculty and ensure effective educational outcomes.
• Lead and support the delivery of a wide range of training functions.
• Collaborate with a multi‑professional team across the South West region.

Employment Details

• Part‑time secondment to NHS England until 31 March 2027.
• Existing employment with an NHS Trust in the South West is required.
• Contractual office base expected to spend at least 40% of time in our offices.

Qualifications and experience

• Experienced clinician with comprehensive knowledge of education and training across the region.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑professional team.
• Proven experience in educational supervision and assessment preferred.

Other information

• Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via Electronic Staff Record (ESR) available for NHS employees if successful.
• No visa sponsorship available for this role.
