Clinical Nurse Specialist: Fibroid and Endometriosis Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Nursing team for an experienced gynaecology nurse with a specialist interest and expert knowledge and skills in the field of uterine fibroids and endometriosis.
The Nurse Specialist will be an expert practitioner who, at a senior level, leads on and facilitates the provision of high quality, specialist nursing care to women with fibroids and endometriosis seen within the gynaecology service at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder would be expected to work independently with a defined clinical caseload as part of the fibroid and endometriosis teams.
The post holder will also provide a service for the support of their inpatient gynaecological care, including preparing patients for admission, prompt discharge, post discharge calls and supporting the ward nursing team.
Patients with uterine fibroids or endometriosis are often complex, requiring long term support with managing their symptoms and overall support of their holistic needs.
The Nurse Specialist will provide diagnostics, treatment, support and advice to women and their families attending the Trust, either as an outpatient or inpatient. The post holder will also act as a resource to other professionals working in gynaecology. The role encompasses clinical, consultative, teaching, leadership, research and audit functions.
Main duties of the job
Provide a high quality diagnostic and treatment service for women referred to the Endometriosis and Fibroid service.
Provide specialist, expert episodes of nursing care based on assessment of physical, social, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs and in liaison with the MDT and other relevant health and care agencies.
Provide adequate cover for the gynaecology inpatient ward at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust to facilitate high quality patient care and effective flow.
Act as a resource for women and the clinical and administrative teams by provision of comprehensive advice, information, teaching and training within Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
Undertake where appropriate, nursing research with published outcomes and updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice, and the setting of quality standards within the speciality of Endometriosis and fibroids.
Contribute to formulating reports and clinical audit of own practice, service and outcomes.
Help maintain the BSGE database.

Person Specification
- Registered Nurse
- Specialist nursing qualification
- Recognized teaching qualification or equivalent
- Relevant degree in nursing
- MSc in advanced nursing practice
Experience
- Experience of working in inpatients and outpatients relevant to the specialism
- Experience of teaching on formal & informal education programmes
- Experience of nurse led clinics
