THIS ROLE CAN BE BASED IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING AWS OFFICE LOCATIONS: LONDON, FRANKFURT, MADRID OR DUBLIN.
The AWS Infrastructure Energy Team (IET) seeks a results‑oriented individual to serve as Grid Delivery Manager. The role involves delivering large‑scale critical HV/MV grid interconnection projects within EMEA under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will have a high‑level technical understanding of HV/MV infrastructure projects—including substations, cables, and overhead lines—and a minimum of 5+ years’ experience delivering such projects from design to energization. The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively with diverse teams (design engineering, construction, planning, environmental and real estate), stakeholder management, and weekly reporting on key project risks and issues to senior management, directors, and vice‑presidents.
Key job responsibilities
- Deliver large‑scale critical HV/MV grid interconnection projects within EMEA under tight deadlines.
- Apply deep technical knowledge of HV/MV infrastructure projects, including substations, cables, and overhead lines, and manage projects from design to energization.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet strict timelines.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and provide weekly risk and issue reporting to senior leadership.
- Drive the grid infrastructure delivery program, standardise processes, develop delivery tools, and support financial budgeting.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or a related technical field.
- Experience managing ambiguity, prioritising needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment.
- Experience building and cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders; willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Experience in building power substations in collaboration with utilities, understanding their environment and culture.
- Experience analysing cost/benefit trade‑offs across a strategic portfolio and a demonstrated ability to transact business successfully in multiple cultural contexts; experience managing international teams is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure.
- Fluency in French, Spanish, German, or Italian.
- Master’s Degree (MBA/MS) and/or PMP Certification preferred.
- Experience designing substations or other energy infrastructure.
- Experience working for utilities and with or for energy regulators.
