Permanent Social Worker (AMHP) – AMPH Team, Adult Social Care – Living Better Lives in Lancashire.

This is an incredibly exciting time to join our service as we launch the new strengths‑based vision for Adult Social Care. By embedding innovative practice, we aim to make a real difference to the lives of people in our communities. We are looking for a Social Worker who is an Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) to support us in delivering this vision and helping people achieve what matters to them, living independently in a place they call home.

The role

As a Social Worker (AMHP) on the Mental Health team you will lead on Mental Health Act assessments, make safe, lawful decisions to support people in mental health crisis, promote recovery, protect rights and deliver person‑centred support at times of greatest need.

Working flexible shift patterns starting in the afternoon and ending at night, including one weekend each month, you will conduct assessments, support social care processes and collaborate with internal and external professionals such as health, police, courts and housing to ensure a coordinated response.

You will work with all age groups experiencing mental health crises who require statutory interventions, often on short notice.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) and Social Work England registration.
  • Experience working with mental health crisis and statutory interventions.
  • Ability to work flexible shift patterns and on short notice.
  • Willingness and ability to provide a car for duties and be insured for business use.
  • Required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a ‘disclosure’ and comply with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
