Role Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Reader in Medical Education based at the Institute of Health Sciences Education within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. This post includes a headship of Year 5 MBBS with an available 0.6FTE for the Head of Year 5 role and 0.2FTE for clinical activity. The position is offered as an indefinite contract with an expected start date of August 2026.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a critical role in the effective delivery of the MBBS program. Responsibilities include supporting the transition of MBBS students from Year 4 to Year 5 and subsequently to the clinical workplace as Foundation Year 1 doctors in the NHS. The holder will lead and manage the MBBS curriculum in the student assistantship placements in partnership with placement providers, and develop key strategic relationships with NHS partners, particularly undergraduate teaching leads across North and East London.

The Institute for Health Sciences Education (IHSE) is one of six institutes forming the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry and is responsible for delivering the Faculty’s medical degree programmes. IHSE partners with hospitals and primary care practices to provide an innovative curriculum to its diverse student body.
