Location: Telford
Pay: £13.09 per hour
Hours: 42 Hours Per Week
Shift pattern: 4 On, 4 Off Rotation (Days & Nights)
Mitie is recruiting Security Officers to join our team at a brand-new HMRC site in Telford. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile government contract, helping to protect people, property, and critical public services. You’ll be part of a professional security team responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
We are looking for a dedicated security professional who takes pride in delivering excellent service and remaining calm under pressure.
About the Role
As a Security Officer, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day security operation of this prestigious government site. Working a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern covering both days and nights, you’ll provide a visible security presence, carry out patrols, monitor site activity, manage access control, and respond to incidents while ensuring the highest standards of professionalism at all times.
No two shifts are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, responsibility, and working as part of a team.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous security experience
- Valid SIA Licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervisor)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Professional, reliable, and approachable manner
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Comfortable using security technology and systems
- Ability to work both day and night shifts
Security Clearance Requirement
This role requires successful candidates to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) Clearance. To be eligible for SC Clearance, applicants will typically need to have been continuously resident in the UK for the last 5 years, alongside meeting other government vetting requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and contractors
- Conducting routine patrols and security checks
- Monitoring access and egress points
- Responding to incidents, emergencies, and security concerns
- Completing accurate incident reports and records
- Reporting Health & Safety hazards and security risks
- Following assignment instructions, site procedures, and compliance requirements
- Delivering a professional and customer-focused security service at all times
