Overview

We are looking for a sustainability professional to support the implementation of climate and sustainability actions across a large university. The successful candidate will contribute to achieving the university’s carbon emission reduction targets and guide sustainability activities across teaching, research and operational areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the fulfilment of sustainability policies and support annual policy reviews.
  • Provide technical support to departments to help them meet sustainability requirements.
  • Assess how the UN Sustainable Development Goals are embedded in the university’s educational and research content and recommend improvements.
  • Compile case studies and data from across the university to demonstrate progress toward the SDGs.
  • Design and run events and engagement programmes on sustainability topics such as Fairtrade, waste, biodiversity and procurement.
  • Analyse data and produce evidence‑based communication materials to influence behaviour, including annual reports, data submissions and website/social media content.
  • Act as a sustainability champion within the university, supporting BU’s reputation through external rankings and community engagement activities.

Qualifications

  • Strong organisational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Experience or academic background in sustainability, environmental management or a related field.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
