ROLE: Mental Health Support Worker

LOCATION: The Lighthouse, Burnham-on-Sea (TA8)

HOURS: 35 hours a week

SHIFT: 08:30 – 21:00 (Occasional sleep in if needed to cover)

About The Lighthouse

At The Lighthouse we support nine people with mental health needs or dual diagnosis. We work with people with varied abilities to reach their full potential, providing skills, strengths and resilience development.

We help them develop resources to self‑manage and stay well, provide support to develop coping techniques that make a noticeable difference in everyday life. We understand each person is an individual and their needs may vary; whatever the situation or level of complexity, we encourage, support and motivate them to achieve maximum independence.

Responsibilities

  • Day‑to‑day support and routine of the people we support
  • Prompting independence while helping them live a fulfilling life
  • Encouraging the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests
  • Managing health care needs, including accompanying to routine appointments or administering medication
  • Teaching life skills such as budgeting, paying bills and shopping
  • Assisting with personal care as required
  • Assisting with domestic tasks including cleaning and cooking
  • Providing guidance and encouragement through physical and emotional support

Qualifications and Experience

Experience within the care sector is not required; we offer full training, coaching and development.
