Residential Support Worker – Preston (PR3)

Job Title: Residential Support Worker – Location: Preston (PR3) – Salary: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience) – Contract Type: Flexible/Shift-Based Work

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Workers to join a children’s care home in the Preston area. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by providing high-quality care, support, and guidance within a safe and nurturing environment.

The position offers a variety of shifts, and we are looking for individuals who can work flexibly across days, evenings, weekends, and sleep‑in shifts as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day care and emotional support to children and young people
  • Promote a safe, structured, and positive living environment
  • Support with daily routines including education, activities, and life skills
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people
  • Manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people (residential care, education, or similar settings desirable)
  • A caring, resilient, and patient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly across a range of shifts
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential)
