Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming primary school in Bispham to recruit a Specialist Support Assistant to start in September.
This role involves supporting a Year 3 pupil group with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, where challenging behaviour is present. The school is looking for a resilient, empathetic, and proactive individual who can build positive relationships and provide consistent support.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support within a Year 3 classroom
- Support pupils with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges
- Implement behaviour management strategies and support plans
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Encourage emotional regulation, engagement, and positive learning behaviours
- Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Qualifications
- Have experience working with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour
- Be calm, patient, and confident managing behaviours positively
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Be adaptable and able to respond to changing classroom needs
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children’s development
- Previous school or support work experience is desirable
