About the role

Were looking for a motivated and curious Analyst to join our team and help the council make the most of its data. There is potential for up to two posts to be appointed through this recruitment. This is an exciting opportunity to use evidence, insight and best practice to shape policy, inform decision-making, and influence how services are delivered across Cambridgeshire. Your work will support the delivery of the Councils Corporate Strategy.

Youll be part of our Policy, Performance and Intelligence Service, working alongside a supportive team of analysts. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and youll have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects. Areas of focus may include libraries, community development, poverty, engagement, and workforce analysisoffering plenty of variety and the chance to make a real impact.

Our service brings together data, analysis, insight, and policy expertise to support both day-to-day service delivery and longer-term strategic planning.

Important Dates

  • Analysis test: 8 July 2026 (shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a timed test using Excel or a similar package)
  • Interviews: 14 July 2026 (for candidates successful at the testing stage)

Role Criteria

This role is subject to police vetting. Applicants must have been resident in the UK for a minimum of three years to meet this requirement.

Please also note that recent changes to UK immigration rules mean that Skilled Worker visas require a minimum salary threshold of 41,700.

Can you help data make a difference?

Are you curious, ambitious and excited about using data to drive real-world impact? Do you enjoy turning information into insight and supporting evidence-based decision making? If so, this could be the role for you.

Were looking for someone with strong analytical skills and a good understanding of different data sources, who can apply these skills in a practical way to develop and embed new data solutions. Youll have experience of analysing data and producing high-quality outputs for a range of audiences, along with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Communication is key in this role. Youll need to be confident explaining complex or technical information clearlyboth in writing and verballyto a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Youll bring relevant experience, alongside a solid foundation in data analysis techniques. Experience with Power BI and other specialist analytical tools are desirable. In return, well support you to continue developing your technical expertise and subject knowledge as part of a friendly and collaborative team.
