Mersey Care NHSFT is looking for an outstanding candidate for an attractive permanent position as CRHT Consultant Psychiatrist to work in Mid Mersey St Helens and Knowsley CRHT based at the Harry Blackman House, St Helens.
The role involves providing excellent clinical care to service users, clinical leadership and expertise within a highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary team across multiple satellite bases in Warrington, Halton and Knowsley. Outpatient clinics may be held at the Knowsley Resource and Recovery Centre (KRRC) and the surrounding wards.
The post holder will regularly attend the Trust-wide Tuesday morning Local Academic Postgraduate (LAP) programme (Local MRCPsych teaching) and will work closely with other consultant colleagues in CRHT, encouraging continued professional development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting patient reviews and home visits for urgent or emergency cases, with most cases reviewed on site.
- Managing complex cases and providing consultative advice to team members.
- Leading the team in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss patient allocations and responsibilities under the MHA Code of Practice.
- Formulating care plans, guiding evidence‑based treatment and evaluating effectiveness.
- Co‑ordinating liaison and collaborative working with other services and agencies.
- Implementing the Mental Health Act.
- Participating in the on‑call rota.
- Supporting multi‑disciplinary, multi‑agency and partnership working.
- Maintaining contemporaneous electronic documentation in patient records and timely communication with primary care colleagues.
- Delivering high‑standard clinical work during assessments.
- Ensuring compliance with the Trust’s clinical governance framework.
