Principal EC&I Engineer – Birchwood Park, Warrington
Scope
The candidate will be responsible for leading the CE&I electrical systems design for projects in the FEED pipeline.
The role involves the production and checking of engineering deliverables to support design development through concept and preliminary phases, and potentially into detail design, with assistance during installation and commissioning and design queries.
The candidate will provide technical support to all aspects of CE&I engineering, and has knowledge and experience in project delivery, optioneering, front‑end design, and detail design.
Responsibilities
- Lead and take responsibility for the delivery of the design aspects of the project.
- Work with a small integrated design team to deliver design packages against milestones.
- Contribute to the production of multidisciplinary design documentation such as Project Requirement Documents, Basis of Design, Project Verification Plans, Quality Plans, Design Justification Report.
- Determine project requirements independently.
- Produce, review, and check design documents and CE&I deliverables from other CE&I engineers/designers.
- Estimate hours for scope changes or additional works, outlining supporting schedules for the discipline.
- Support and contribute to the delivery of Design Reviews.
- Produce reports and documentation to comply with CDM.
- Interface with Integrated Design Team, facility team (including systems engineering), and other project functions, working closely throughout all project phases.
Requirements
- Experience delivering CE&I design packages – translating user requirements and technical specifications into fully engineered, safe, and legal design solutions.
- Experience with space management, panel layouts, cable routing, cable management and cable calculations.
- Ability to work as part of an integrated delivery team and individually within sometimes restrictive time constraints.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with people at all levels.
- Process Instrumentation Design experience.
- Electrical Power and Services Design at LV.
- Knowledge of CE&I Safety Systems.
- Experience with Programmable Electronic Systems.
- Experience with Radiometric Instrumentation.
- Understanding and application of required deliverables and design processes for CE&I areas, particularly in front‑end scoping and early delivery strategy.
- Ability to estimate and schedule production and progress reporting.
- Collaborative teamwork essential.
