This Graduate Apprenticeship provides an entry‑level opportunity to combine work and study, and is particularly suited to individuals at the start of their career.
We welcome applications from candidates completing school (including S6 pupils) or those seeking their first step into employment. No prior experience is required, and full training will be provided.
The role is based at Lerwick and applicants should be able to commute daily to this site.

Role Summary
Working alongside the Capital Projects Team, the successful candidate will be supported to deliver a range of capital projects and priorities aligned to the objectives of NHS Shetland. The role involves capital infrastructure, estates and service development, and construction projects. The candidate will work with clinicians, estates staff, contractors and external partners to deliver high quality projects on time and within budget, whilst pursuing a recognised qualification for future career development.
Training Programme
Excellent training and a supported structured 4‑year programme towards achieving a BA (Hons) Business Management (Business & Project Management) through Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.
Responsibilities
- Support delivery of capital projects and priorities within the Capital Projects Team.
- Coordinate with clinicians, estates staff, contractors and external partners to ensure project quality, deadlines and budgets are met.
- Assist in planning, monitoring and reporting on project progress.
- Manage project documentation and support compliance requirements.
- Learn and apply project management best practices through the apprenticeship training programme.
Qualifications
- Achieved or currently working towards SQA Higher, normally BBBC, or equivalent.
- Equivalent qualifications welcomed, including Foundation Apprenticeships (SCQF Level 6), Modern Apprenticeships (SCQF Level 7), SVQs/NVQs, non‑relevant HNCs and access programmes.
- Strong enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to follow a structured training path.
- Good experience with all Microsoft Office packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong teamwork ethic, organisational skills, attention to detail and self‑motivation.
