The role

Reporting to the Senior Business Development & Marketing Manager, the Senior Business Development & Marketing Executive will play an important role in helping to execute the firm’s business development strategies and plans across a variety of practice groups including corporate, IP, and family with a specific sector focus on technology and publishing as well as playing a key role in the delivery of certain key cross‑firm growth initiatives including specific client targeting and the firm’s international strategy.

Recently the winner of the LexisNexis Business Development Award, the successful candidate will be joining the team at an exciting time when there is a great deal of focus and support for the growth and development of the BD&M function. They will work with the lawyers, the wider BD & Marketing team, and other business service professionals to drive the high‑standard delivery of a broad range of business development and marketing activities in line with the firm’s and the practice groups’ strategy.

The Senior BD & Marketing Executive must be flexible, ambitious, enthusiastic, with a ‘can do’ attitude and keen to take responsibility. They must be an effective communicator who is able to establish and maintain strong and professional relationships with clients and colleagues.

They must have very strong writing and editing skills; the ability and confidence to lead and manage discussions and meetings with partners, lawyers and other members of the firm; a sense of urgency; a flexible approach and an ability to prioritise and manage a busy and varied workload and to work under pressure; be confident and proactive with excellent organisational and communication skills; and the ability to look beyond the original request to provide a first class service that adds a value beyond that of simply a reactive administrative function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the primary contact for assigned groups and initiatives, providing a response that is swift, helpful and efficient at all times, ensuring clarity with communications and with timeframes.
  • Coordinating BD&M meetings with groups as required, taking meeting notes and circulating agreed actions, following up on actions to ensure progress on the delivery of activity and project plans.
  • Taking the lead in the high‑quality execution of all in‑person and virtual BD&M seminar, events and conference programmes.
  • Maximising the opportunities for the firm from various sponsorships and partnerships, including taking the lead on the collation and utilisation of data sources and activity tracking.
  • Carrying out market research and developing personal understanding and awareness of the offering and the business of the practice groups and the market that they are operating within in order to proactively identify opportunities for extended and additional activities.
  • Accurately contributing to and maintaining all BD&M data tracking processes and effectively utilising all BD&M digital systems (IA, Vuture etc.) in order to contribute to an organised and structured function within the firm.
  • Drafting and managing external communication pieces including: social media communications, website pages, insight pieces, articles, press releases and marketing collateral including capability statements, brochures, presentations and other client communications in line with brand guidelines.
  • Collating and drafting legal directory and award submissions including Legal 500, Chambers and practice area specific publications.
  • Managing and coordinating the pitch process alongside the lead partner, including collating, drafting and editing content and advising on structure and content.
  • Embracing and adopting firm‑approved AI and emerging technologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of BD&M activity and output across all areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Marketing/Business Development position ideally within a legal/professional services environment.

Software Skills

Applicants should have advanced desktop publishing skills, particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel; experience and knowledge of Vuture, Interaction and Canva would be highly beneficial.
