The role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic AWS DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll help support and maintain our cloud infrastructure on AWS, learn Terraform and DevOps best practices, and assist our development teams in delivering software.
- Infrastructure Support: Assist in building and maintaining cloud infrastructure using Terraform under the guidance of the DevOps Lead, writing clean, maintainable infrastructure code.
- AWS Service Support: Deploy and manage core AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, and ECS, supporting application deployments with senior team oversight.
- CI/CD Pipeline Assistance: Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including building Docker images, pushing to Amazon ECR, and supporting automated deployment processes.
- Containers: Work with Docker containers and assist with deployments on Amazon ECS, learning auto‑scaling and load balancing.
- Security Basics: Apply AWS security fundamentals, including IAM permissions, Secrets Manager, and security groups, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Cloudflare Support: Configure and support Cloudflare tasks such as DNS records and CDN configuration.
- Monitoring: Monitor systems using AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, and other tools to keep platforms healthy and online.
- Documentation: Create and update documentation for infrastructure components and deployment processes.
- Team Collaboration and BAU: Support deployments into non‑production and (with supervision) production environments, troubleshoot common issues, raise tickets, and support ongoing operations.
About You
- Experience in a DevOps, cloud, or similar technical role (including internships, placements, or personal projects).
- Hands‑on exposure to AWS services such as EC2, S3, and IAM.
- Basic familiarity with Terraform or a strong willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of Docker and containerisation concepts.
- Awareness of AWS security fundamentals and IAM concepts.
- Experience using Git and GitHub for version control.
- Basic scripting ability in Bash; exposure to Python, Node.js, PHP, or similar is a plus.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and hands‑on experience with tools like GitHub Actions.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or working towards an Associate / Professional level certification.
- Experience supporting and developing GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools.
- Understanding of Cloudflare, AWS Organizations, or multi‑account setups.
- Good understanding of cloud networking concepts such as VPCs, subnets, and security groups.
- Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
- A genuine enthusiasm for cloud technology and a desire to progress.
