About the role
Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of large‑scale initiatives and programmes of optimisation activity across one or more squads as well as ensuring delivery of small change and Business‑as‑Usual (BAU). The Lead Delivery Manager ensures delivery excellence, fosters a high‑performing delivery culture, and drives continuous improvement. A Senior Delivery Manager is able to manage complex, high‑risk products, and services.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross‑disciplinary teams to deliver on time, to cost, with the right quality outcome for the customer.
- Facilitate squad ceremonies (stand‑ups, retrospectives, planning).
- Monitor and drive overall progress and performance of squads and initiatives.
- Establish and manage delivery plans and roadmaps, ensuring alignment and managing dependencies across squads.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Business Analysts to refine and prioritise back‑logs.
- Facilitate cross‑team collaboration, remove blockers, and ensure clear communication and transparency within delivery teams.
- Act as a strong leader and role model, demonstrating an excellent delivery mindset and promoting a culture of accountability.
- Contribute to improving delivery capability across squads and through direct reports.
- Facilitate high‑quality software delivery repeatedly and predictably using a metric‑driven approach to continuous improvement.
- Monitor delivery metrics and optimise ways of working, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Support the Portfolio Manager in raising standards across delivery and implementing strategies to meet our delivery OKRs.
- Participate in community forums.
- Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies that could impact delivery and benefit realisation.
- Manage the escalation process to the Portfolio Manager and ePMO.
- Facilitate planning cycles across squads and contribute to QPP.
- Work with stakeholders to prioritise work from a technical and product roadmap perspective.
- Build and manage the agreed governance structure across projects, small change and BAU in liaison with the ePMO.
- Ensure all key stakeholders are accountable for their part of the delivery.
- Ensure decisions are documented and have the right level of sign‑off.
- Monitor and manage delivery performance, risks and status.
- Ensure work is in scope and changes are managed with impacts surfaced.
- Manage allocated squad and team capacity, align resourcing to priorities and optimise allocation.
- Identify and resolve resource bottlenecks in liaison with the Portfolio Manager.
- Manage budget allocations and track spend across allocated squads and initiatives, ensuring regular cost reviews.
- Support the creation of business cases and benefits tracking.
- Engage regularly and build productive relationships with senior leaders, Heads of Product, Heads of Tech and delivery teams.
- Provide clear communication on progress, risks and changes to the ePMO and business stakeholders.
- Support effective transition of changes into BAU.
- Provide regular initiative and roadmap updates, highlighting risks and mitigation plans.
- Deliver accurate and timely reporting on KPIs and delivery metrics.
About You
- Experienced delivery professional who role‑models excellent delivery practices.
- Proven ability to govern large, complex, cross‑functional initiatives.
- Good commercial and financial acumen.
- Proficient in Agile delivery models.
- Able to recognise when something does not work and encourage a mindset of experimentation.
- Strong listening skills to understand technical and business stakeholder needs.
- Bias towards action, finding ways to remove barriers to rapid delivery.
- Strong stakeholder and third‑party management skills.
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions around high risk and complexity within constrained timescales.
- Actively addresses complex risks, issues and dependencies, including when ownership is unclear.
- Can identify dependencies across services and coordinate delivery.
- Engages colleagues with enthusiasm and motivates a team.
- Ability to coach and mentor delivery leads; excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Knows how to optimise delivery flow, manage pace and tempo.
