Applied Psychologist – Paediatric Psychology and Liaison Service (PPALS)

Fixed Term: 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology to join the Paediatric Psychology and Liaison Service (PPALS) within the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP).

PPALS provides assessment, treatment and care to children, young people and their parents/carers under the care of paediatric medical specialties on an in‑patient and out‑patient basis across NHS Lothian.

The postholder will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and formulation‑based individual and possibly group interventions across a range of psychological presentations in paediatric health psychology. They will also deliver consultation and a collaborative role across services involved in the continuity of psychological care.

Applicants requiring full‑time or part‑time hours are encouraged to apply. The role may require a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the applicant is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult) an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. This post may also require a different level of criminal records check due to legislative changes effective 1 April 2025.
