Clinical Psychologist within Homeless Services.
An exciting opportunity for a band 7 Clinical Psychologist with enthusiasm and interest in working with the homeless population in Manchester to join a friendly and supportive mental health multidisciplinary team.
8 permanent sessions (30 hours per week).
Postholder will support the Manchester Mental Health Homeless Team and contribute to the Homeless Hub-wide Psychology initiatives, providing psychological consultation, training and reflective practice to staff and homelessness workers. Psychological assessments and interventions will be undertaken as appropriate to meet the additional needs of the homeless population. Multi-disciplinary and multi-agency collaborative working is foundational.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver specialist psychological assessment and therapy to clients with complex, severe and longstanding mental health difficulties, including high risk behaviour such as risk of suicide and self‑harm.
- Contribute to the service delivery and target objectives/priorities of the Homeless Hub plans.
- Manage a clinical caseload.
- Carry out specialised risk assessments and agree risk management plans with individual clients, and provide advice on aspects of risk formulation and management to other clinicians and services.
- Provide clinical supervision, training and team reflective practice to mental health and non‑mental‑health workers.
- Be responsible for the clinical supervision and teaching of trainees.
- Engage in peer supervision and peer consultation with clinical colleagues within the service.
- Provide clinical consultations for clinicians, including therapists in training, when difficult and challenging issues of assessment, treatment and risk management arise.
Experience and qualifications
- Working with service users with complex needs.
- Experience in formulation and risk assessment/management.
- Experience of working within homelessness.
- Experience of working within dual diagnosis.
- Experience of delivering supervision and training to staff.
- Relevant qualification in professional field.
- Must have appropriate UK professional registration.
- Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 etc.) required.

- Pay enhancements – 30% additional for evenings (8pm onwards) and Saturdays; 60% additional for Sundays and bank holidays.
- 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 29 after 5 years and 33 after 10 years.
