Clinical Theatre Manager, Coastguard and Horizon Theatres (Band 7)

The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children is the South West’s regional paediatric major trauma centre. We have nine theatres covering 18 specialities including Cardiac, Neuro, Trauma, Burns, CEPOD and Plastics.

Coastguard and Horizon Theatres are looking for an RN/ODP who would like an opportunity to lead and support a developing team within BRHC. This will involve working closely with the Theatre Matron and other unit theatre leads. The ability to combine your clinical expertise with managerial responsibilities is essential; experience of practising within an operating theatre will be advantageous. You will hold relevant qualifications and have sufficient experience to provide strong, knowledgeable leadership.

Weston Theatres consists of six operating theatres with a range of specialities including: Day surgeries, Upper GI, Lower GI, Orthopaedics, a designated CEPOD list and more.

You will require a high level of organisational skill and have a resourceful and professional approach to work. You should be able to demonstrate excellent inter‑personal and communication skills and have the ability to forge and maintain positive relationships with a variety of clinical and non‑clinical staff.

Working hours are full time (37.5 hours) – Monday to Friday.

The Lead Practitioner Will

  • Be supervisory to practice as required.
  • Be responsible for professional day to day clinical leadership and operational management of the department.
  • Ensure delivery of high quality, responsive, safe, efficient and compassionate care.
  • Support the Matron in developing the service.
  • Act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in a role which encompasses leadership, management and clinical responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate pride in their work and enthusiasm for quality of care.
