Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Machine Learning
Central Oxford – Department of Engineering Science, Torr Vision Group.
This month‑fixed, full‑time Postdoctoral Research Assistant role is funded by KAUST for a one‑year term. The successful candidate will investigate the safety and security implications of large language model (LLM) agents capable of interacting with operating systems and external APIs, and contribute to foundational work at the intersection of AI safety and autonomous system deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design experiments to evaluate and stress‑test LLM agents in system‑level environments.
- Study adversarial threats and hijack scenarios affecting agentic behaviour.
- Develop practical safeguards and certification strategies to ensure safe execution of agentic behaviour.
- Publish high‑impact research outcomes.
Qualifications
- PhD (or near completion) in Computer Science, AI, Security, or a related field.
- Strong background in machine learning and/or computer security.
- Experience working with LLMs or agent‑based systems.
