Data Architect

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Proficiency in query languages, e.g. SQL, Java, Hive, R.
• Experience with data management technologies such as ETL tools and data integration platforms.
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as PowerBI and Qlik.
• Relevant certification in data architecture or related domains.
• Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, or a related role with a strong emphasis on data architecture design and implementation using modern data engineering tools and technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud-based data platforms and services (e.g., Azure, AWS), including familiarity with cloud-based data storage and big data technologies.
• Experience working in the public sector.
• In-depth knowledge of modern data practices, platforms, services, and the interface with cloud technologies, as well as data modelling techniques.
• Strong knowledge of data security, data privacy and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their implications for data architecture.
• Good understanding of the working practices of a Police Force.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering data solutions, products or services.
• Manage projects.
• Apply excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions.
• Connect disparate data sets to build useful analytics.
• Plan, coordinate and prioritise workload for self and team.
• Produce good‑quality documentation and reports, and present information to stakeholders of varied levels.
