The Opportunity
Senior Security Consultant with a focus on malicious risk and associated risk management strategy. The role is based in the UKIMEA region and is part of Arup’s Resilience, Security & Risk team.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic direction for the Security Advisory service offering.
- Work directly with clients primarily across the UK, with opportunities to work in other regions such as Europe, to understand their needs and partner with them to define security risks.
- Manage project delivery within the Security Advisory team and the wider Resilience, Security and Risk practice.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of fee‑earning work in the Security Advisory space, and be involved in all aspects of project and commercial management.
- Develop internal tools, methods and service offerings to ensure alignment with market needs and maintain technical excellence.
Qualifications
- Meets the requirements of the Suitably Qualified Security Specialist (SQSS) role as defined in BREEAM v7 2025 (Hea 08); at least 3 years of relevant security experience within the last five years, a degree or equivalent qualification, and full membership of a relevant professional body or registration as a Chartered Security Professional or a General Security Advisor.
- Track record in professional services consultancy or similar client/site‑facing roles, advising on security matters.
- Excellent communication skills – capable of conveying complex technical information and concepts clearly to all levels of an organisation, and skilled in report‑writing, oral communication and visual presentation.
- Proven ability to assess and evaluate physical and personnel security risk through threat, vulnerability and risk assessment, and to develop proportionate, sustainable and innovative solutions that address broader design and operational criteria.
- Experience managing projects and teams, including monitoring financial performance, delivery to programme and defining project scopes.
- Ability to inspire and develop junior staff and to develop new and existing service offerings in partnership with leadership.

Legal and Procurement Requirements
The successful candidate must obtain UK SC Clearance, which typically requires a minimum of 5 years of residency in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available; the applicant must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application and for the duration of employment.
