Position Overview
The Associate Director, Prospect Research & Management leads the PRM team within External Relations’ Business Operations & Analytics. This senior leadership role drives high‑value research, strategic fundraising insights, and continuous improvement of research tools and processes.
Scope & Authority
The Associate Director reports to the Vice President, Business Operations & Analytics. Responsibilities include line management of the PRM team, budget oversight, and acting as a strategic partner to senior fundraising leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute PRM’s annual and long‑term strategy in alignment with organisational fundraising priorities.
- Lead high‑value research initiatives, producing confidential biographical, financial, and due diligence profiles on high‑net‑worth individuals.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable research plans and oversee pipeline development across multiple fundraising pillars.
- Build and manage relationships with fundraising leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring PRM outputs inform donor cultivation and stewardship decisions.
- Shape team strategy and metrics, driving cross‑functional problem‑solving and data‑driven research integration.
- Innovate research methodology and tool use, leading procurement of new tools and mentoring colleagues in technical development.
- Oversee management and strategic development of the team’s suite of resources (e.g., CRM, subscription databases, media tools).
- Lead cross‑functional research initiatives and special projects, providing strategic insights to senior leadership.
- Ensure clear communication and alignment between PRM and key internal partners, proactively leading team discussions.
- Provide inclusive line management, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Expertise in research and database management, including Salesforce.
- Experience leading cross‑functional problem‑solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesize complex data into strategic insights.
- Proficiency across PRM subscription tools, internet research, and fundraising software (e.g., LexisNexis, iWave, Foundation Directory).
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic messaging skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of philanthropic trends across multiple markets, particularly the humanitarian aid sector.
- Knowledge of strategic philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, Public‑Private Partnerships, and impact investing.
- Strong leadership and time‑management skills with experience prioritising multiple projects.
- Experience in a large international organisation, understanding cross‑market complexities.
Experience
- Robust experience applying quantitative and qualitative analysis to non‑profit fundraising strategy.
- Proven track record translating strategic goals into actionable research plans.
- Experience driving innovation in tool use, procurement processes, and mentoring in technical development.
- Experience working with relational databases, preferably Salesforce.
Compensation
£65,000 per year, commensurate with experience and location.
