Senior Project Manager – Nuclear

Location: UK-wide — Type: Full-time

Sector Exposure: Nuclear, Water, Environment, Defence

Reporting to the Nuclear Project Lead, you will support key clients in delivering transformative infrastructure programmes across the UK, ensuring projects operate smoothly and meet the highest standards of safety, quality and commercial performance.

Role Responsibilities

Pre‑Contract Leadership

  • Lead strategy development and baseline planning.
  • Embed safety throughout all activities and outputs.
  • Scope projects and build accurate cost & feasibility studies.
  • Compile business cases, governance documents and tender submissions.
  • Evaluate tender documentation and identify risks, implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders in all phases.

Post‑Contract Oversight

  • Lead project delivery and contract administration.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to project managers.
  • Drive benefits realisation and maintain cash‑flow discipline.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, align outputs to schedule and quality requirements.
  • Monitor project expenditure and update senior leadership through governance forums.
  • Deliver innovation and efficiency through outcomes and methodologies.
  • Prepare final accounts and manage change orders, variations and disputes.
  • Ensure record‑keeping, contract compliance and safety standards.
  • Guarantee adherence to governance, safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Contract & Commercial Excellence

  • Demonstrated experience delivering large, complex procurement projects.
  • Manage and administer NEC 3/4 contracts on the client side.
  • Drive budget control, payment valuations and monthly certifications.
  • Oversee forecasting and cost planning for financial precision.
  • Draft key contractual communications (EWNs, Compensation Events).
  • Assume delegated authority responsibilities on behalf of clients as required.

Operational Support & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement using cross‑sector insights.
  • Champion improvements to processes, templates and tools.
  • Maintain project databases, visuals and supporting collateral.
  • Contribute to internal reporting, governance and delivery reviews.
  • Lead capability development, readiness activities and cross‑functional integration.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering projects as Project Manager.
  • Understanding of NEC 4 contract forms.
  • Experience leading multi‑disciplined teams and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of CDM, safety and environmental legislation and policies.
  • Strong application of project management practices, methodologies and tools.
  • Customer‑centric approach to high‑quality output.
  • Proficient technical knowledge of the UK Power Sector (preferred).

Essential

  • Degree or HNC in an engineering discipline, or relevant experience.
  • Must have the Right to Work in the UK or be able to secure it prior to commencement.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • Membership of IET / IAM leading to Chartered Status.
  • Management qualification such as APM, IPMA Level C or Prince2/PMP.

  • Ability to integrate inputs across people, process, technology and regulatory interfaces.
  • In‑depth knowledge of CDM regulations and risk management.
  • Familiarity with the full construction lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with common PM methodologies and systems (Waterfall, Agile, Prince2).
  • Strong appetite for continuous learning and self‑development.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a related subject.
  • Full membership of a chartered body such as APM.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Preferred NEC 3/4 accreditation.

Additional Information

Location: Roles can be based at any major Egis office; travel to client sites may be required.
