Application Support Specialist
Contract type: Permanent | Location: London | Working style: Hybrid (50% home / office).
We’re excited to introduce a brand‑new opportunity at Royal London Asset Management, created as part of our AI acceleration journey. As an Application Support Specialist, you’ll join a small, highly experienced team that supports and enhances the applications our business relies on.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first escalation point for issues with AI applications and solutions.
- Diagnose issues and help manage problems to resolution at an application level focusing on AI.
- Explore and evaluate ways for AI to assist current business processes using tools such as OpenAI APIs and Azure Foundry.
- Aid the business with the ongoing support of AI‑driven solutions and applications.
- Provide technical support to a range of internal and external systems, particularly front‑office systems and enterprise data management solutions.
- Apply responsible AI practices, including bias mitigation, explainability and governance.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing systems.
- Learn to support APIs, work with data sources, and support solutions built within cloud and platform services.
- Monitor and support Azure‑hosted applications including use of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and diagnostic logs to investigate incidents and performance issues.
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, onboarding materials and knowledge‑sharing within the squad and wider application support team.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine‑learning technologies.
Qualifications
- First‑Class/2:1 degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering or Mathematics. Recent graduates, MSc and PhD candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Skilled in object‑oriented programming using Python or C#.
- Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- SQL literacy with the ability to query, manipulate and analyse structured data.
- Familiarity with RAG, LLM models, agentic AI or MCPs.
- Understanding of REST APIs and OpenAPI standards.
- Basic Git/version control (branching, merging, conflict resolution).
- Desirable: experience dealing with users and/or vendors from both a business and technical perspective.
- Desirable: prior internship or work experience in a financial organisation within application support or AI team.
- Desirable: experience with AI development tools and platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, AWS, OpenAI or LangStack.
- Knowledge of agentic AI and evidence of self‑learning.
