Are you looking to launch or accelerate your career in sales within a world-class engineering organisation? At Spirax Sarco, we are trusted experts in steam system solutions, helping customers improve efficiency, sustainability, and performance across a wide range of industries.

We are now looking for an ambitious, driven Internal Sales Engineer (ISE) to join our high-performing UK team. This is a fantastic opportunity to build both commercial and technical expertise, working at the heart of our business while developing a pathway into field-based and strategic account roles.

The Role

As an Internal Sales Engineer, you will take full ownership of a defined customer portfolio, proactively driving revenue growth and delivering exceptional customer experiences through a consultative sales approach.

You will balance high-volume proactive engagement with targeted account development, identifying opportunities, nurturing relationships, and creating value for both customers and the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop an assigned customer portfolio (typically 700–800 accounts)
  • Deliver approximately 1,900 proactive outbound sales calls per year (~9 per day)
  • Achieve agreed sales and order targets across:
  • End users (including on-site resellers & FM providers) and OEM customers
  • Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities
  • Proactively manage a secondary portfolio of 20–30 high-potential target accounts
  • Develop accounts to transition into ASE (Area Sales Engineer) managed status
  • Promote the full Spirax Sarco offering, including products, systems, services, and training
  • Follow up and convert leads into revenue opportunities
  • Negotiate and close commercial agreements
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information within CRM systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support campaigns, service delivery, and customer success

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with energy, resilience, and a passion for building relationships and delivering results. Whether you already have sales experience or are looking to break into a technical sales environment, this role offers a strong foundation for growth.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience in customer service, sales, or account management
  • Exposure to new business development
  • Basic understanding of steam and condensate systems (advantageous but not essential)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial awareness and customer-focused mindset
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Proactive, results-driven, and self-motivated
  • Resilient and persuasive in a target-driven environment
  • Strong IT and CRM system capability
  • Desire to develop technical knowledge and sales expertise
  • Collaborative approach with internal teams

Benefits

Competitive salary (and discretionary bonus), flexible working and excellent benefits including 27 days holiday allowance (before bank holidays), 3 days’ paid volunteering leave, comprehensive private healthcare, enhanced pension plan, life assurance, optional participation in a Share Ownership Plan, free onsite parking, flexible benefits, and access to a personal discounts portal.

We are also a Disability Confident Committed Employer.
