Assistant Professor in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (T&S)
Directorate: School of Engineering and Physical Sciences
Contract: Full Time (1 FTE), Open Ended
Salary: Grade 8 – £47,389 – £58,225 per annum
Salary and Benefits
33 days annual leave, plus 9 bank holidays for all full time staff.
Location and Travel
Based at the Edinburgh campus, with collaboration with our overseas campuses in Dubai and Malaysia. Expected to travel to China and Kazakhstan to deliver and support teaching.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver, support and assess teaching undergraduate courses in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering as part of Joint Educational Programmes in China, Kazakhstan and other international sites, and in Edinburgh.
- Carry out coursework and examination marking and undertake associated course administration duties.
- Liaise with relevant academic staff in EPS and carry out course‑related administrative tasks.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A good first degree in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Previous experience of teaching in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Experience of organising course material and/or delivery in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering.
- Demonstrated initiative in teaching and scholarship.
- Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues across campuses and international partners.
- International travel will be required.
- Excellent team‑working, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
Desirable
- A higher degree (MSc/PhD) in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering or a cognate discipline.
- Experience with transnational education programmes.
- Experience in web‑based learning, e.g. virtual learning environments such as Canvas, and other educational technology.
- Appropriate academic or industrial experience in an Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering environment.
- Evidence of engagement with industry.
