SEND Case Officer
Grade C: £35,412 – £44,075
Full-time, 36.5 hours per week (hybrid working)
Do you want to make a difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families?
Birmingham City Council’s SEND case officer role supports children and young people with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, working within the legislative framework of the Children and Families Act 2014. You will provide advice and guidance regarding annual reviews of EHC plans, ensuring that statutory and local processes and timescales are adhered to. You will review professional advice and report writing to ensure that EHC plans reflect the special educational needs of our children and young people and the provision they require to achieve their aspirations throughout the educational journey. Using your skills in communication and a person‑centred approach to casework, you will keep the focus on the child and young person and ensure that everyone understands the processes and decisions made.

The SENAR Reviews Team is split into two cohorts – Years 0–8 and Preparation for Adulthood (Year 9 and above). If your experience aligns more closely with one of these cohorts, please highlight this in your statement.
