We’re looking for a Facilities Co-ordinator to join our friendly team and play a key role in maintaining two wonderful National Trust properties in North West Wales: Penrhyn Castle and Garden and Plas Newydd House & Gardens.
These complex historic buildings require a well-organised and motivated facilities team to help ensure they run smoothly. We welcome over 200,000 visitors to both places, and need to ensure that we can balance caring for these amazing places with ensuring people can enjoy and access them safely. A major part of this role will be compliance focused and feeding back information to the team.
Salary: £24,850.80 per annum (pro rata from £27,612 full-time equivalent)
Contract Duration: Permanent
Working Pattern: You will work 33.75 hours per week, including regular weekend and Bank Holiday working in line with operational requirements. Typically, you will work Sunday to Thursday, with Thursday as a half-day. However, some flexibility is required, and the role may initially operate Monday to Friday while you become familiar with the sites.
Accommodation is provided to the postholder for the proper or better performance of their duties in accordance with Trust criteria and HMRC rules.

Penrhyn Castle is a Victorian house disguised as a huge neo‑Norman castle with 204 rooms and 70 roofs. Its history is staged upon slavery, slate, splendour and strikes. Plas Newydd House and Gardens is a magnificent mansion house and garden, located on the banks of the Menai Straits with a history stretching back to Tudor times.
What you’ll be doing
This is a varied and hands‑on position where no two days are the same. You’ll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring our facilities are safe, compliant and running efficiently. Things can get hectic at times. If you’re someone who enjoys planning your day, but can also adapt when unexpected challenges arise, you’ll fit in well. Historic buildings have a habit of presenting strange and unusual issues overnight, so being able to think on your feet and find creative solutions is a big part of the role!
You will:
- Co-ordinate contract management and supplier relationships
- Lead and organise facilities team workstreams
- Manage and support compliance planning and tracking
- Assist with reactive maintenance and co-ordinate planned maintenance programmes
- Oversee multiple IT systems, including task management, compliance trackers and asset systems
- Be part of duty management rotas.
This role also includes Key Representative duties, with accommodation provided at Penrhyn Castle, giving you a unique opportunity to live where you work. This will involve the responsibility of responding to any issues, normal or emergency, during a usually 1 in 3 evening cover outside of working hours.

- Self‑motivated and able to manage multiple priorities
- A confident communicator with strong leadership skills
- Experienced or knowledgeable in facilities management or a similar environment
- Comfortable working with digital systems and data tracking tools
- Proactive problem‑solver able to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues and daily operational problems to minimise downtime and maintain a safe, highly functional environment.
