Salary: £38,000 to £42,000

About the Role

Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist further education college to appoint an experienced and dedicated College Business Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and proactive professional to play a key role in the operational and financial management of the college. The successful candidate will operate, maintain, and develop the administrative and financial procedures and systems of the college in cooperation with the Principal and Board, ensuring the effective and efficient running of the provision. The role will also involve ensuring all legal and safety requirements relating to people and property are met, and overseeing the college site, buildings, maintenance, development, and the effective use of resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the management and development of the college’s administrative and financial systems
  • Support the Principal and Board with operational and strategic planning
  • Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee health and safety procedures across the college
  • Manage the college site, buildings, maintenance, and development projects
  • Monitor budgets and ensure the effective use of resources
  • Manage contracts, procurement, and service agreements
  • Support the management of administrative and support functions
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational systems and procedures

Requirements

  • Previous experience in business management, operations, finance, or administration
  • Strong financial management and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of compliance, health and safety, and operational procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
  • Enthusiastic, conscientious, efficient, and honest approach to work
