Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Act as a member of the Pharmacy team, undertaking a full range of duties and contributing to the provision of a quality Pharmacy service under the direction and supervision of the Procurement Manager.
  • Accurately process orders for medications with Manufacturers and Wholesalers where applicable, ensuring documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Manager regarding out of stocks, non‑contract and supplier issues.
  • Carry out the dispensing of inpatient, outpatient, community unit, self‑medication wallets, discharge medication (TTOs) and controlled drugs (CDs) against clinically checked prescriptions, and perform receipt, stock control and supply of medicines within the Pharmacy and to wards under the direction or supervision of a Senior Pharmacy Technician or suitable qualified person.
  • Assist the Medicines Management Team and QA in maintaining standards for correct storage of medicines.
  • Ensure orders are placed electronically using a web‑based ordering system, by email or phone, and that contracts are up to date in the computer system.
  • Pass invoices and credit notes promptly, investigating, rectifying or reporting any discrepancies immediately.
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed accurately, filed appropriately and that filing systems are kept up to date and in good order.
  • Respond to notifications of Logtag alerts from the Medicines Management team, collect required information and act on the advice given, if necessary.
  • Monitor Logtags kept within the Pharmacy Department and other storage areas to maintain MHRA standards and alert any issues.
  • Perform most duties in an office‑based setting with time spent in the dispensary covering late clinics and weekends.
  • Work Bank Holidays and participate in the late clinic and weekend rota.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, to be attained within twelve months of starting the role.
