Assistant Electrical Design Engineer– North London

My client, a market leading Electrical and Mechanical Design Consultancy based in North London, is searching for an Assistant Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. This office‑based role offers varied commercial and industrial projects for Government Bodies and Public Sector Clients. The role is located within easy reach of the Jubilee Line and includes on‑site parking.

Responsibilities

• Complete detailed electrical designs using AutoCAD, Dialux and Amtech.
• Perform design calculations for commercial projects.
• Develop detailed designs of electrical systems and cabling for buildings (commercial and industrial).
• Survey, test and report on existing installations.
• Attend technical meetings with professionals and contractors.
• Conduct engineering calculations using Amtech, Dialux, Pro–Design or equivalent software.
• Prepare tender specifications and drawings for projects.
• Train and support other team members when needed.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND/BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience working for a UK‑based consultancy, completing detailed electrical designs for buildings and commercial developments using AutoCAD or equivalent software.
• Detailed knowledge of BS7671 (wiring regulations) and other relevant codes.
• Lived in the UK for five years to secure security clearance for MOD projects.
• Security clearance required for this role.
