Job Title: Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer (PLC Fault Finding)

Term: Permanent, Full-Time

Working Hours: Monday-Thursday: 08:00-16:00 (flexible start available); Friday: Early finish (1pm); Total: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Diss, IP21

Salary: Up to £50,000

We are delighted to be working with a well‑established manufacturing business to recruit a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer (PLC Fault Finding) for their day‑shift engineering team.

Role Overview

This role will suit an experienced senior electrical maintenance engineer who is confident working on manufacturing machinery and comfortable fault‑finding across PLC‑controlled systems.

As a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer (PLC Fault Finding), you will act as a key escalation point on site, supporting more complex faults and helping drive reliability improvements across production equipment.

While this is not a programming role, the successful Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer (PLC Fault Finding) will be expected to confidently use PLCs and HMIs to diagnose faults and support troubleshooting independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an escalation point for complex electrical faults
  • Carry out hands‑on electrical fault‑finding on manufacturing machinery
  • Use PLCs and HMIs to diagnose issues (inputs/outputs, sensors, logic)
  • Support planned and reactive maintenance activities
  • Work on motors, drives, control panels, and automated equipment
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Provide technical support to other engineers on site

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong background working on production machinery and automated systems
  • Confident fault‑finding electrical issues in live environments
  • Comfortable using PLCs and HMIs for fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Experience with drives, motors, sensors, and control panels
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of problems
  • Qualifications beneficial but hands‑on experience is prioritised
