Consultant in Palliative Medicine

Job Overview

You will join the palliative care team of Saint Francis Hospice to provide Consultant level expertise and care to the hospice ward team and the hospice community teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide Consultant level input into the hospice ward, in partnership with a consultant colleague, leading and supporting non‑consultant grade medics and the ward multidisciplinary team to deliver a holistic model of care for people with complex, advanced or progressive life‑limiting conditions.
• Provide Consultant level input into the Community team, with clinical and strategic focus on one of the boroughs served by Saint Francis Hospice, including direct visiting support for palliative care complexity and indirect support of colleagues through clinical advice, education and support with quality improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to the support, training and development of medical trainees and learners, and to the learning environment of the hospice staff and external care providers.
• Be part of the regional Consultant on call service, sharing in the region’s consultant on call rota covering BHRUT hospitals, the hospice and the community out of hours.
