Job Overview

This is a full-time (10 PA) fixed‑term post for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with a sub‑specialty interest in Tuberculosis. The successful applicant will take on the role of Trust Tuberculosis Lead and will play a central role in further developing a high‑quality, patient‑centred TB service in line with national guidance and regional strategic priorities.

The post forms part of ongoing respiratory service expansion and transformation within the Trust and offers significant opportunities for service development, clinical leadership, and innovation. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of evolving ambulatory respiratory pathways, including Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), integrated respiratory services, and ambulatory pleural care.

The postholder will contribute alongside Consultant Respiratory colleagues to inpatient and outpatient respiratory care and will support departmental governance activities, including Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) processes, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, and multidisciplinary working.

Applicants should have broad‑based training in Respiratory Medicine, excellent clinical and communication skills, and a demonstrable commitment to service improvement, education, governance, and patient‑centred care.

Participation in annual job planning, appraisal, and GMC revalidation processes is a requirement of the post.

The post holder will be a committed clinician with subspecialist training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine. They will have a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, service improvement, teaching, training and other qualities as identified in the person specification.
