A strong numerical graduate is required for a development role with a leading energy business based just outside of London.
This is an excellent opportunity for the successful applicant to develop a wide range of skills and gain a thorough understanding of the UK energy industry.
The role holder will need strong analytical skills to manage large data reporting, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, will enable them to manage stakeholders across the business and external counter‑parties.
Responsibilities
- Support the overall delivery processes for the validation and settlement of the volume of energy sales and purchases across gas, power, and coal customers, as well as transportation costs and renewable energy obligations.
- Develop and maintain models and systems to support the team’s operational activities and ad‑hoc analysis.
- Assist the team in delivering the complete recognition of both creditors and Cost of Sales reporting.
- Provide input into the development of new products by building strong working relationships with Sales & Marketing, IT, Finance, and external counterparties.
- Develop your knowledge of compliance within EU regulatory reporting policies such as EMIR and REMIT.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of client payments and production of statements.
- Maintain awareness of all energy market changes to ensure the company remains compliant with industry regulations at all times.
Qualifications and skills
- Relevant degree preferably in Finance, Economics, or Energy Trading.
- Strong numerical, modelling, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and VBA.
- Strong organisational skills and delivery focus.
- Attention to detail and a focus on the accuracy of work and procedures for improvement.
- Good interpersonal skills – able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills using both logic and intuition to derive solutions for finance and the business.
- Ability to learn and understand the impact of changes to the industry, such as the Energy Markets Review (EMR), Smarter Markets Programme, gas market changes, REMIT and EMIR reporting obligations, National Grid transmission changes, renewable obligations, and emission trading.
